INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ENROLLMENT GUIDELINES

TOEFL or SAT and/or ACT SCORES Required for admittance; if SAT verbal 450+, waive TOEFL; if ACT English 18+, waive TOEFL; TOEFL must be 550+ (paper) or 213+ (computer) or 79+ (internet) to meet English proficiency. IELTS may be considered.
TRANSCRIPT OR STATEMENT OF MAKRS FRESHMAN: Submit an official copy of your secondary school record or transcripts. If not in English, a certified English translation is required. A transcript shows a record of courses (grades) awarded and grading scale with minimum passing mark. Transcript must show most current terms of grades to date. Transcript must be an original copy, certified by sending institution.

TRANSFER: Submit an official copy of your secondary school record or transcripts. If not in English, a certified English translation is required.

Submit an official copy of your college/university transcripts. If not in English, a certified English translation is required. Submit a description of each course or subject studied including textbook used. The Registrar's Office evaluates international transcripts and transferable credits.
PERSONAL STATEMENT Submit a personal statement indicating why you want to attend Kettering University and why you would be the "perfect fit".
LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION Submit at least two letters of recommendation by instructors and/or school counselors.

VISA Once you receive an official notice of acceptance from Kettering University satisfying all requirements for admission, a Form I-10 (Certificate of Visa Eligibility) will be issued to you. You will present the I-20 Form to the nearest U.S. Consulate or Embassy and exchange it for a F-1 visa. Admittance into the U.S. will not be permitted until 30 days prior to the start date on your I-20.

You are not able to work off-campus in the US until you have been on F1 status for 9 months. You may be employed on-campus up to a maximum of 20 hours per week.
STUDENT FINANCIAL PROOF REQUIREMENT Required to submit financial proof of $40,892 US.
TUITION BILLING PAYMENT Required to submit a first-term tuition/fees payment prior to arrival on campus. If the F-1 visa is not approved, the student will be reimbursed.
MEDICAL INSURANCE You must complete a Medical History form and submit proof of student medical insurance written in English prior to coming to campus. If you do not have student health insurance, you must purchase Kettering University's student health insurance.

Kettering University reserves the right to decline hoe country student health insurance after its review.

  1. MANDATED FEDERAL STATEMENT: Any advertisement, catalog, brochure, literature, any statement which may appear concerning approval for admittance to Kettering University of non-immigrant students should read: "This school is authorized under Federal Law to enroll nonimmigrant students."
  2. I-538 AUTHORIZATION FORM TO WORK - F-1 VISA STUDENTS: The Director of International Programs will continue to process I-538s for current International students working in co-op positions in the United States on a term-by-term basis until the student graduates.
  3. ORIENTATION: All current J-1 and F-1 undergraduates will be required to attend a mandatory international orientation.
