Hometown: La Crosse, WI
Major: Applied Physics with a concentration in fuel cells
Co-op Employer: Argonne National Laboratory (Suburban Chicago)
Coolest work assignment: Right now I’m working on a materials science project that looks into how the cathode conditions which no one understands currently. I make the samples, which includes a lot of work with new peroskite materials and platinum.
The 5 best things about Kettering:
- The Co-op experience
- Networking opportunities
- Flexibility in scheduling
- 100% employment or grad school placement
- Ability to travel/work in different places
Success Zone Thoughts:
Kettering is a good school for students that “can’t sit still”. At Kettering we are constantly moving between school, work, and home; which is real and honest. I move between Wisconsin (home), Illinois (work), and Michigan (school); which allows me to see more and experience as well as network in different places.
Also, Kettering has allowed me to work where I want to eventually work (Argonne National Laboratory), so now I have my foot in the door and they know my name, so when I come back after I get my PhD, they can say, “Ann? I know her. She knows what she’s doing.”
